More Sweet Than Spooky

Several years ago I ordered Chicken on Egg from an online retailer. This little freebie was included in my package.
My latest "stash dive" brought this pattern out. I considered doing it on a large count linen I had in the stash, but then I remembered how much my Land That I Love is costing me to get framed. The Owl on Egg would run about the same. So,

Owl on Egg is going to be a kitchen towel. The towel is Charles Craft's Huck Kitchen Towel. I'll have to make some pattern modifications to make him "stretch" a little bit. I think this can be accomplished by tweaking the border.

I'm also not using the overdye floss it calls for. With all the washing kitchen towels get, it's just not worth the expense. So DMC it is.

Midnight Ride

Midnight Ride, a freebie from the Kreinik website, was my holiday stitching project, well one of them. It was stitched mainly in the car over five countries. The UK, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. This was a really enjoyable stitch. The only downside was that the border took more that one spool of the orange braid so I had to order more supplies when I got home to do about six inches of cross stitch.

Midnight Ride

As a result of this project my ort jar now glows in the dark!

If anyone out there fancies doing a bat biscornu then check out this post from Stitch Creations but be quick as she says the chart won't be up for long! Just click on 'this post' in previous sentence to get there.

Lizzie*Kates Boo Flip Its...

Lizzie*Kate's Boo Flip It's done on 28 count Desert Sandstorm by Sassy Fabbys

are finally done! I finished this earlier in the week. Sorry the top pic is so blurry but I didn't use a flash on it (oops!) and the pictures do not do the fabric justice. This was a fun piece to do! I added the dangles to the spiders and the 'RIP' to the tombstone to give it a little more flair. My DH LOVED the spider one and I have such a hard time stitching spiders! Eeek. Enjoy!

Halloween Fairy Finish!

I put the last stitches and beads in my Halloween Fairy last night. I love how she worked up. and fast too! I ended up using all of the fibers as charted although I had to get through some dyelot issues with the green for the wings (my kit included 2 skeins from 2 different dye lots... grrrr...) I subbed the fabric through with a Silkweaver piece.

Spooky Gem Cushion

Since I decided not to publish my designs (stitching became a chore... not good), I can go ahead and post pictures of a Halloween piece that I designed and stitched. I fell in love with the Kelmscott Little Gems and decided to design a mattress cushion and fob for them. Here's a picture... I have more pictures on my blog.

New Stash

The Missus and I went to a craft fair here in Perth yesterday. She found these Halloween designs….They are Pretty Wicked! with the magic mat and frame and Count LeScarrot by Just Nan plus Boo To You and All About Halloween by Homespun Elegance. How could I resist??

After looking at everyone's lovely work my mind is beginning to wander in strange ways (stranger than usual....lol). As usual, I've been all enthused about Christmas designs....happens every year at this time....and has done for years.....Now I'm thinking about Halloween designs....that doesn't usually happen until January.....Curiouser and curiouser!
