Ready To Carve

Ready To Carve
Freebie from SanMan Originals Newsletter
I stitched this on Sugar Maple Fabric Tranquility evenweave. I used Fuzzy Stuff for the cat's body, beads for his eyes and a metallic for his knife. He was fun to stitch and I really like how he turned out.

You are so Bootiful!

You are so Bootiful
Designs by Lisa
I left the words off of the design and used Wisper for the witches hair and Fuzzy Stuff for the cat and the witch's warts. I also used an overdyed floss for the border and stitched it in Smyra crosses. The fabric is 28ct Monaco that I dyed.

Halloween Icons

This is Halloween Icons by Birds of a Feather. I decided to stitch them all together on one piece of fabric, a Silkweaver Solo. I used Smyrna cross stitches for the borders and the pumpkin leaves. I wish BOAF was still designing, I really like their designs.

Last week I made a start on my latest Spooky Stitch, Witches Riding By from Lavender Wings. You can see the design here. I'm stitching this on 36 count linen, as recommended.

New member saying hello

Hi all!

I joined a couple months ago as I was just getting started on my current Halloween piece - I wanted to have a bit more progress before I posted. :)

Anyway, to introduce myself - my name's Melissa. I go by Measi online. I'm 35, married, and live in Rhode Island. I've been stitching for nearly 25 years now, although I've had a lot of spurts and lulls in my stitching along the way. Halloween is by far my favorite holiday, and I have a bunch of different holiday-themed projects in my stash. :) I keep a personal blog of my stitching progress and random life chatter.

I'm working Raise the Roof's Witchy Washy:

Witchy Washy as of 14 June 2010

It's moving along well. I'm using the recommended hand-dyed floss, so I'm being good and stitching each X individually. It's a bit slower, but the results are wonderful.

I have two other projects kitted up and will start one of them upon my next finish. One is Witches Dance by Lavender Wings, and the other is Sleepy Hollow by Glendon Place (both of which are gorgeous).

Nice to meet you all!

Haunted Hideaway on 13th Avenue

Here is my most recent spooky finish. Called 'Haunted Hideaway on 13th Avenue' it is one of last year's Secret Needle Night projects from The Silver Needle. I stitched this as charted. However, I added the ghosts in glow-in-the-dark floss and gave the cat glow-in-the-dark green eyes.

The ghosts are based on the ones from Just Nan's Fraidy Frog which was a chart in last year's Just Cross Stitch Halloween issue.

Mill Hill Treats Collage

Today's progress went well on Mill Hill Treats Collage. I am adding the beads and I did see where I missed some cross stitching on the bottom left corner, so will do that next Sunday. I am hoping to finish this next Sunday.

a little kitty

I haven't done much Halloween stitching lately, but here are a few smalls--a freebie from Primitive Betty, and a BBD stocking from the 'Tis Halloween booklet. Weather is starting to heat up here and I am already wishing it was fall!
Marjorie
P.S. does anyone know if Moon Witch from Primitive Needle is still available as a freebie anywhere? I have been looking but can't find it.

Mill Hill

This is Mill Hill Treats Collage. Most of the cross stitching is done and have to add the beads.

Moon Witch

This is a freebie from the Primitive Needle. I stitched it over-one on Sugar Maple Fabrics Petunia Patch. I didn't have the called for threads, so I picked my own and used Dmc, Dmc glow-in-the-dark, and Needle Necessities floss.

Thanks for letting me join!

Thank you to Karen for letting me join your great SAL. :)
I have one little Halloween stitch going on right now. It's Checkers the Pumpkin. I have been neglecting him and want to get back to him.
Here's what he will look like. So far he's only a few stitches.

From Epic Stitching

I also have two Halloween samplers that I will start at some point... the new Halloween Sampler by Cherished Stitches and Counting Bats from Just Nan.
Looking forward to seeing what everyone is stitching and to joining in!

Open House

This weekend I finished Open House from The Cross-Eyed Cricket. This is stitched as charted with the recommended DMC floss on 28ct lilac cashel linen.

My next spooky stitch will be this one.

From Lavender Wing this is called Witches Riding By. It is stitched on 36ct linen with two strands of floss. Has anyone done this design? as I wonder if two strands of floss will make it look bulky.

Witchy Washy

Here is an updated picture of Witchy Washy :) I do have a lot more done on it as I'm now on the other side. My kitty button's tail broke but it still looks good. I didn't care for the spider button on it so I left it off :)
