Trick or Treat

This is my latest halloween finish. Trick or Treat from Shepherd's Bush.  This project came as kit. It is stitched on 32ct lambswool linen.

Quick update

I thought I'd show you my progress so far on Witches Riding By from Lavender Wings. This is about two weeks worth of stitching.

Witches Riding By

Last week I made a start on my latest Spooky Stitch, Witches Riding By from Lavender Wings. You can see the design here. I'm stitching this on 36 count linen, as recommended.

Haunted Hideaway on 13th Avenue

Here is my most recent spooky finish. Called 'Haunted Hideaway on 13th Avenue' it is one of last year's Secret Needle Night projects from The Silver Needle. I stitched this as charted. However, I added the ghosts in glow-in-the-dark floss and gave the cat glow-in-the-dark green eyes.


The ghosts are based on the ones from Just Nan's Fraidy Frog which was a chart in last year's Just Cross Stitch Halloween issue.

Open House

This weekend I finished Open House from The Cross-Eyed Cricket. This is stitched as charted with the recommended DMC floss on 28ct lilac cashel linen.


My next spooky stitch will be this one.


From Lavender Wing this is called Witches Riding By. It is stitched on 36ct linen with two strands of floss. Has anyone done this design? as I wonder if two strands of floss will make it look bulky.

Here we go a haunting

This is my first finish of 2010. 'Here we go a haunting' by Shepherd's Bush I started on New Year's day and finished it at quarter to nine on the second of January. I also have the matching scissor fob. The limited edition box makes the whole project that little bit more special.

Open House

Last weekend I made a new start.


This is the bed end form Open House by the Cross-Eyed Cricket.


Having declared on my blog that during October I was only going to stitch spooky stuff all I can say is roll on Thursday as I really want to get my teeth, or should it be needle? into this one.

Midnight Ride

Midnight Ride, a freebie from the Kreinik website, was my holiday stitching project, well one of them. It was stitched mainly in the car over five countries. The UK, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. This was a really enjoyable stitch. The only downside was that the border took more that one spool of the orange braid so I had to order more supplies when I got home to do about six inches of cross stitch.



As a result of this project my ort jar now glows in the dark!

Boo needle book

Here is the Boo needle book from the Just Nan 'Over the top and in the tin' range finally made up.





Stitched on 32 count Crystal Peach linen the needle book measures 2 3/4" when fully open.

All the stitching on the Boo needle book from Just Nan is finished.


Now all I need to do is 'finish' it properly. I have made a start on the matching tin lid design but there's not much worth showing at the moment. After this I am going to start Midnight Ride, a freebie from the Kreinik website.

Boo needle book

This is my first Spooky start since joining this SAL. The Boo needle book from Just Nan's 'Over the top and in the tin' range. Here in the UK it is very difficult to get 30 count fabric so I have used 32 count Belfast linen (Crystal Peach). Shortly after starting, the middle and two pumpkins were done, this nearly became a UFO as I didn't like the way it looked stitched two over two. To me it looked really thick and 'clumpy'. So I started another one, this time doing it with one strand as you can imagine the coverage was poor. I was getting fed up. I really like Just Nan designs but this one was not working for me. A quick persevere with the two over two pep talk from my Mum and about half an hour later and I was back friends with the design, which is a good job as I have the tin lid in my stash and I had originally thought of stitching this again and turning it into a Halloween biscornu!

Hi I'm Jen and I am really pleased to be a member of this SAL. I did my first Spooky project last year. This was Simply Halloween from Waxing Moon Designs. Unfortunately I didn't get it finished in time. Here it is.


This was done on the fabric suggested on the chart, even though the photo that came with the chart showed the background fabric to be a pale purple/lilac colour.


I have lots of other things in the stash and I am looking forward to sharing them with you in time.
